From mediterranean to dim sum, here are eight solid options.
In case you missed the boat on ordering a holiday ham in time for Friday’s festive feast, no fret. Plus, you are not alone. It’s been a rocky road this year and if you can’t fathom the idea of baking and cooking nonstop to put a grand meal on the table, we don’t blame you. Luckily there are several spots open (some even on Christmas Eve and Christmas day) to help lighten the load.
From Mediterranean spreads and dim sum to Ashley Christensen’s macaroni au gratin and homemade cookies for Santa (ahem, yourself), here are eight Triangle restaurants offering takeout this week. It’s a great way to put amazing food on the table while supporting local restaurants trying to survive the pandemic.

In addition to Parizade’s spacious (and appropriately heated) outdoor patio and dining room open on Christmas Eve, there’s also the opportunity to order authentic Mediterranean takeout and celebrate at home. The chef’s table to-go menu features a 3-course prix fixe menu with a selection of executive Chef Jason Lawless’s favorite dishes from the dine-in menu (don’t sleep on the green chickpea hummus). There’s also a curated wine pairing option to go in tandem. Or peruse the entire menu and pick a la carte. Order online through December 24.

For the holidays, Mateo launched a catering menu to-go that includes many of their cult-favorite dishes. The paella and tapas kit is standout and entails two paellas of choice, barbecue Marcona almonds, crispy garbanzo, marinated olives, boquerones, pan con tomate (with Duke’s mayonnaise), huevo diablo, chicken croquetas, jamom Serrano, queso, and two banana pie puddings. The catering menu also features a la carte items like patatas bravas, costillas de puerco (pork ribs), Maria’s flan, and Videri chocolate mousse for five people. Paella in a pizza box, porrons, Spanish wine, and online gift cards are also available. Order online and pick up through December 23.
Dim sum and wine is a fun way to celebrate the holidays at home. Dimsum Asian Bistro is open every day except for Tuesday, which means you can order steamed bbq pork buns, dumplings, scallion pancakes, chicken feet, taro cakes to-go on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this year. Order online from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Order a complete Italian feast from Mulino Italian Kitchen & Bar. The restaurant will be open for both dine-in and takeout on Christmas Eve. Owner Samad Hachby has a dialed up to-go menu to keep fans satisfied at home. Pici all’amatriciana, fritto misto, lobster tortollino, and Hachby’s hyped pizzas are a few items to look forward to — and it’s likely that you won’t even miss the holiday ham this year. Order online through December 24.
Centro’s weekly curbside pickup menu has been a huge pandemic hit. For the week of Christmas, pre-order now for pickup this week. The hot and ready menu includes favorites like the “Chip-N-Dip Party,” tortas, and enchiladas while the take and bake menu is built to feed several people in one sitting. Enjoy chilaquiles for two on Christmas morning or a taco kit and enchilada platter that will feed the entire family. Order online and pick up on December 23 and December 26 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Preeti Waas, the owner of Sugar & Spice Kitchen, is the go-to for holiday sweets. In case there’s no time to bake cookies or pie this year, Waas has a whole made-from-scratch menu with cinnamon rolls, walnut molasses pie, cranberry chutney, pecan pie, and more, available for pre-order. There are even a few salty bites like potato gratin, miso-maple glazed brussels sprouts, quiche, carrot souffle, and a root vegetable pot pie for grabs. No order is complete without a dozen chocolate chip cookies for Santa (aka yourself) from sister brand, Cheeni Chai + Coffee +Tiffin. Order online for pick up through December 23.
