THE stars of BBC’s Countryfile are coming to Charlton Park in Malmesbury for Christmas.
The show’s presenters will launching a brand new event – Countryfile Christmas in the Park – on December 10 to 12.
And this week, as a little pre-show taster, Countryfile’s Adam Henson will be joining the mayor, Cllr Paul Smith to open the start of late night shopping in Malmesbury.
This is taking place at the Market Cross on Friday at 6pm.
Then, from December 10 to 12, the BBC Countryfile team will take up residency across five acres of Charlton Park Estate’s parkland.
It will all be centred around the arboretum, which will be home to a special festive tented village – with the Countryfile presenters as the hosts.
Visitors can look forward to presenter-led stage shows, TV chefs and local food heroes creating seasonal favourites, Christmas crafting and baking workshops, winter woodland walks, live bands, street food, carol singing and shopping from over 200 retailers.
To make things even more festive, visitors can even pick their own locally grown Charlton Park Christmas tree.
The event promises to be a great day out for all the family, with arts and crafts, shopping, food and drink and festive experiences.
The presenters of Countryfile will be present across the weekend hosting various stage talks and activities at the BBC Countryfile at Christmas Stage.
Food lovers can enjoy The Christmas Kitchen, hosted by chef Brian Turner and featuring some of the nation’s favourite chefs.
Outdoor lovers can also join the Woodland Trust on a series of expert-guided walks around Charlton Park’s arboretum, where they can learn about the various flora and fauna, as well as how to tend their own gardens over the winter months.
Kids can also get involved with Woodland Trust festive workshops, such as ‘make your own reindeer from hazel sticks’.
Once the arboretum has been fully explored, then visitors can head to the Carol-Oke stage, where a host of local choirs and Countryfile presenters will be performing all of the festive favourites to sing along to.
All of that fun will no doubt work up an appetite and thankfully there’s plenty of opportunity for festive delicacies at The Park Food Market & Wine Bar – which will offer a delicious array of street food and of course warming mugs of mulled wine.
BBC Countryfile has been on air every week since 1988, with millions of viewers tuning in.
Tickets for BBC Countryfile Christmas in the Park start at £29.50 for adults and £15 for children aged 5-16 and can be purchased via: https://www.countryfilelive.com/christmas-in-the-park
