Leave it to Toronto to make the impossible happen by having a bumping patio season in the dead of winter. From sprawling rooftop patios to colourful covered terraces to twinkling Parisian alleyways, there’s no shortage of spots to enjoy a delicious al fresco meal in this city no matter how cold it gets.
No -20 C wind chill or semi-lockdown can stop Torontonians from having a good time in the great outdoors, and these spots are doing the most to make their patios as dreamy as possible.
Here are 12 Toronto patios open right now that are taking outdoor dining to the next level.
Prohibition’s heated outdoor patio is “so warm you won’t need a coat,” according to the restaurant’s latest Instagram post. The patio is located at the back of the venue and it’s open all day until 11 p.m. on a walk-in basis only, but will soon be taking reservations as well.

Chotto Matte is serving up the best of Nikkei cuisine on their leafy outdoor patio, covered and heated to keep you toasty.  This month, the restaurant is featuring several mouthwatering plant-based dishes on their Veganuary menu, including Rocoto Cauliflower Wings, Lychee Ceviche, BBQ Huacatay Broccoli, and more.

Sip mulled wine and toasty hot toddies on the covered and heated patio at this west end spot. Before you go, you can grab some fresh bread and a bottle of wine from the adorable takeaway counter on Cosmos Nature Laneway behind the patio.

Plus, they boast the best drinks in the city and they dare you to prove them wrong. Challenge accepted!

An escape to paradise without leaving the city? Sign us up! Harbour 60’s heated patio is easily one of Toronto’s most luxurious spots for outdoor dining and they’re open all winter long. You don’t have to wait for warmer weather to indulge in some fine dining al fresco in the heart of downtown.

This cocktail lounge has an ultra-cozy patio that’s open year-round and it’ll keep you toasty even on the coldest winter nights. The colourful surroundings will almost make you forget you’re in Toronto, especially as you’re sipping on a delicious craft cocktail.

Care for some award-winning butter tarts and a latte on a dreamy twinkling garden patio? This Queen West spot has you covered! This spot is a popular one among locals, including Shawn Mendes. The back patio feels like a little escape right in the middle of the city and if you want to keep the peaceful vibes going, you can take your coffee to go and head to Trinity Bellwoods right next door.
